Are you a writer who enjoys engaging with a wide range of people?  Curious about what makes places and people tick? Would you like to spend 6 months as Nottingham Trent University’s Writer in Residence?  

This is a great opportunity for a writer to immerse themselves in our diverse community, working across all four of our campuses.

There will be opportunities to share your work and practice, providing creative and intellectual experiences for our students and staff. We have a wide range of community partners, which you may choose to work alongside.  You will also have time to develop your own work.

The ideal candidate will be a published or performed writer with experience of leading workshops or creative sessions. You’ll be confident and curious and enthusiastic to make the most of this opportunity – which you will have freedom to shape.

The culmination of the residency will be a commission to create a piece of spoken word to feature in our graduation celebrations.

This residency will contribute to Curated & Created, NTU’s extra-curricular cultural programme which includes Bonington Gallery, NTU Music, and our new performance venue, Metronome.

Duration: 6 months
Hours: 18.5 hours per week on average
Fee: £9,000
Location: NTU campuses: City, Clifton, Creative Quarter, Brackenhurst

It is expected that the Writer in Residence will have a presence on campus – you cannot fulfil this opportunity remotely.

The Writer in Residence will be engaged on a contractor / freelance basis. They will be paid monthly on submission of invoice.

 The Writer in Residence will be responsible for the tax due on this contract and, if applicable, accounting for the VAT.
