Special Conditions: Pay rate is £43.02 per direct teaching hour. This includes the following elements: teaching, preparation, team meetings, marking and moderation of marks of the scheduled programme of work. Attendance at the pre-course staff inductions will be paid at the rate of £17.20 per hour.

The Language Centre at Nottingham Trent University provides year-round pre-sessional courses in English for Academic Purposes, which help international students prepare for undergraduate and postgraduate study at the University. We are seeking highly motivated and suitably qualified candidates to deliver teaching on the pre-sessional courses at various times of year according to need. We offer a friendly, motivating and supportive working environment.

 

Main Duties

  • Preparation and teaching of sessions
  • Assessment and feedback, report-writing and record-keeping
  • Attendance at the paid induction prior to the start of teaching, and at weekly team meetings
  • Liaison with colleagues as necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the course.

 

Self-catering accommodation on campus may be available at a discounted rate for Pre-sessional tutors from outside the Nottingham area working on the 10- or 6-week summer courses.
 

Course dates 2019

Course dates are:

  1. 24/06/19 to 30/08/19 (excluding 26/08) with staff induction on 18-21/06.
  2. 22/07/19 to 30/08/19 (excluding 26/08) with staff induction on 17-19/07.

For both courses teachers will be contracted for 21 hours per week.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have the Cambridge ESOL DELTA or an equivalent EFL teaching qualification, plus a first degree, together with substantial teaching experience. You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to teach a language effectively using a variety of methods.

Experience of EAP teaching would be an advantage, as would an MA in TESOL or related subject.
