We are seeking to recruit Bioscience demonstrators, who will be available to work throughout the academic year, starting in October 2022.

Within the Biosciences team we provide our students with ample opportunities to gain subject specific practical skills and transferable skills through laboratory, workshop, seminar, and fieldwork sessions, utilising General Purpose Teaching rooms and large multi-disciplinary laboratories within the Rosalind Franklin Building, Interdisciplinary Science & Technology Centre and the Erasmus Darwin building.  To ensure that we provide an excellent student experience, we support these sessions with the use of demonstrators who provide skills training, technical knowledge, academic support and advice to our students. You will work under the direction of Subject Leaders and other academics in leading or supporting laboratories/workshops/seminars/fieldwork sessions. You will play a key role in delivering high quality academic training and support to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.  Duties will include assisting the academic staff in delivering sessions, providing academic knowledge and training, offering advice and support to students, liaising with technical staff and providing formative assessment feedback, where required.

You will have sound knowledge of a broad range of Bioscience subject areas and laboratory skills, be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate ideas of a complex or technical nature to students effectively.

Ideally, applicants should be available to work throughout the academic year and will be paid on an hourly basis (up to a maximum of 100 hours per annum).
