The School of Art & Design is one of the world’s leading art and design schools and has been influencing, inspiring and innovating for over 175 years. We are guided by our past, focused on our future, and proud to be shaping what comes next. The School has a vibrant, forward-looking and expanding research and scholarly community where collaboration and interdisciplinarity are embraced and encouraged.

40% of our research is practice-based and our new Associate Dean for Practice will provide strategic leadership support to the Dean of School on the development, implementation and monitoring of the School’s plans for practice-based activities embracing the creative activities of staff, commercial consultancy, contract research and knowledge exchange/knowledge transfer.  In the latest REF, 86% of Trent’s research was world-leading or internationally excellent and as our Associate Dean you will work across the School and wider university to make sure our practice research and activity contribute to our ambitious quality and impact goals.

We are looking for an individual with a background in art and design with a deep understanding of the practice environment and the knowledge exchange framework context that the School is operating within. With a proven track record in research grant capture or other income generation, you must be a good leader and team player with a current, high-quality research and/or practice profile in a relevant area.

With exciting developments such as our landmark new £45m Art & Design building this is an exciting time for the School. If you would like to contribute your expertise, creativity and energy to this wonderful institution full details can be found at
