Senior Lecturer in Primary Education

£43,392 - £54,919 p.a. pro rata

Full time/Permanent contract

About the Role

The Nottingham Institute of Education is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in the area of Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE). We are looking to recruit applicants with a specialism in maths and/or science to lead our PGCE Primary ITE Course and to teach across both our postgraduate (PGCE) and undergraduate (BA) 3-11 Primary Initial Teacher Education with QTS courses.

You will join a large and supportive team of Primary specialist colleagues, and will contribute to both subject specific and general professional provision. You will have a clear passion for and have a strong background in Primary education in school settings, and experience of successfully supporting trainees whilst on placement.

Experience in the HEI sector, including Course Leadership, is particularly welcomed. You will be aware of current issues in Primary Education and have a thorough understanding of curriculum and best practice (pedagogy) within this sector, whilst being able to analyse a range of data to inform developments in the provision and to ensure excellent student outcomes and experience. Experience of how to prepare thoroughly and successfully for Ofsted inspection is essential. You will have a strong commitment and experience of the maintenance and development of partnership links with existing and new partners, and a genuine personal & professional openness to new ways of working in strategic response to sector changes.

You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to bring the best out of staff and to lead on and/or participate in appropriate research projects. You should have a commitment to your own personal professional development, and will be supported in this, including in further study where relevant. You should have a good understanding of the current educational climate and the vision to deliver high quality programmes of study.

For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly. We are committed to diversity, contributing to the university’s application for an Athena Swan award, and welcome applications from under-represented groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.
