About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the Support and Application Specialists team as an Application Specialist.


The Support and Application Specialist team provides the support for some of the most critical student-centred applications within the University, and sits within Corporate Applications based within Digital Technologies department. The Application Specialists are based at the City Site, the role is permanent with a mix of on-campus and remote home working and as such, this is not a fully remote role.


Working as part of this team, you will gain the in-depth knowledge of the applications that sit within the student information system portfolio, and you will work collaboratively with a wide range of people within Digital Technologies and across the University. It is expected that the post-holder will work with business users to understand requirements for continuous improvement of the system, as well as analysis and coordination of upgrades and maintenance activities, analysis and implementation of regulatory changes and specialist 3rd line support. This is a varied role, and one that is important to the successful operational requirements of the University for its student systems.


Experience of working with Ellucian Banner or any other student records system would be beneficial, as would experience of business processes that affect the student lifecycle e.g. admissions, student finance, enrolment, assessments etc. although not a requirement. We are seeking a new team member who is enthusiastic and motivated about working with large corporate systems and want to learn and understand their use across the organisation. You will be a self-starter and have the capacity to learn new technology, quickly, and be able to work independently as well as part of the team. You will be proactive and organised in your work, take the initiative to resolve business problems, demand items and queries.  

This post is critical to the maintenance of the system, and as such it is expected that the post-holder will be asked to work outside normal hours on occasion.
