About the role:
The Counselling Team Leader at NTU plays a key leadership role in managing the operational delivery of the counselling team within the Student Health and Wellbeing services. The role involves line management of a team of counsellors providing brief focal therapy to students, overseeing service quality and clinical risk, contributing to strategic planning, and ensuring professional standards. The Counselling Team Leader also carries a reduced caseload of individual counselling clients and collaborates with other university services and external providers to support student wellbeing. Additionally, they deputise for the Head of Student Health and Wellbeing Service when necessary and contribute to broader student support initiatives across the university.
About you:
You will have significant experience of managing a large referral service offering brief focal therapy with substantial post-qualifying counselling and supervision experience. The successful candidate will have a graduate qualification and have significant experience of working in and managing a busy team in an educational setting.
We are looking for a candidate who has previous experience in supervising trainee counsellors and ensuring high-quality placements. You will have experience in leading counselling casework, risk management and crisis intervention, with the ability to provide expert advice on risk management and compliance issues related to counselling.
We are seeking a candidate with excellent interpersonal and networking skills, who is able to establish multi-agency partnerships. You will have the ability to identify support needs and develop the counselling service using innovative strategies to meet student needs.
