Apprentice Information Assistant

Grade C £23,093 per annum

Fixed term contract for 15 month aligned to the completion of a level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship

About the Role

Are you interested in a career in customer service? We are looking for someone with new insights and fresh perspectives to join our team as an Apprentice Information Assistant.

Part of Libraries and Learning Resources, you’ll have the opportunity to work in different teams. You’ll gain valuable experience in a customer service setting, creating a warm welcome and providing a positive user experience to our diverse staff, students and visitors,  including face-to-face, telephone, digital and written communications.

You may not have considered working in a library before, but if you are interested in delivering outstanding customer experience and developing your career then this is the role for you. No experience is required and you will receive full training in order to be able to provide proactive support to our customers.

Please note: This is a fixed-term 15 month post, and you will be required to complete a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship as part of the role, spending 20% of your hours off the job training to develop your professional skills and knowledge,  whilst building an apprenticeship portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Your role will focus on supporting users to make the most of our library resources and services.

  • You’ll staff our library service points or virtual helpdesks, and be the first person many users will meet.

  • You will gain an overview and experience of a wide range of library tasks.

The role is 37 hours per week, including regular Saturday working and working on some Sundays, bank holidays and university closure days.  This is an on-campus role,  based primarily at our Clifton campus library,  but with the expectation that you will regularly work at other sites as required.

For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.

Interview date: W/c 21st October 2024
